Why does your business need Legal Metrology
The Legal Metrology Act defines certain standards and regulations on the selling and distribution of packaged goods. This act also covers import goods. Registration and License mentioned above except Registration under Rule 27 shall have a certain validity period after expiry of a certain period it should get renewed.

It is central-based registration, in other words, if any entity having registration of one premise and also doing business from other places then it need not get registered the other place of business also.

After getting the registration the concerned entity will comply with this law regarding the packaging of product and weights and measurement instruments as directed in this Act and Rules thereon.
Documents Required For Obtaining a License
- The self-attested photocopies of the following documents should be submitted along with the form.
- Licence for trade / manufacture / Factory / Lal Dora certificate from MCD / NDMC / DDA etc. In case the MCD licence is not available with the applicant, an undertaking in the form of affidavit is to be submitted that the business premises is not located in non-conforming area and / or is not likely to be sealed by the MCD or relocated.
- GST Registration Certificate
- Residential Address proof of the proprietors/ directors / partners like Aadhar Card and PAN Card both
- Two copies of the photographs of the proprietors / partners / Directors
- Packing material / Slip / Sticker / Label which is being pasted on the packages.
- Memorandum of Association of the Company, Partnership deed in respect of Partnership firms.
- Import-Export Code
- Affidavit on Non Judicial stamp paper of Rs. 100/-
- Proof of premises
- Mobile number and e-mail id
